Block graph
A graph where equal blocks show how many observations belong to each category.

What it means
Count whole blocks from the baseline. Five blocks above “Mango” mean five votes when the key says 1 block = 1 vote. The blocks must be equal and lined up so the category heights can be compared fairly.
Remember it
One equal block, one equal amount.
Example
A snack survey gives Apple 3 votes, Mango 5 votes, and Pear 2 votes. With the key 1 block = 1 vote, Mango gets five blocks. Mango has 5 − 2 = 3 more votes than Pear.
Watch for
A stack of unequal pictures is not a block graph; equal blocks and a clear category-to-value rule are required.
Common mix-up
A block graph shows separate equal units; a bar chart usually uses one solid bar whose length carries the value.

A block graph represents categorical frequencies with equal, separate blocks arranged by category. Each block has the same value; in the simplest primary form, one block represents one observation.
