Currency notation
Currency notation is the agreed way to write a money amount with symbols, codes, and digits.
What it means
Money writing has two jobs: name the currency and show the amount. The symbol or code tells which money is meant, while each digit and separator has a place in that currency's format.

Example
A price list says amounts are in Singapore dollars. S$7.05 means 7 Singapore dollars and 5 cents; the zero keeps the cents in the hundredths place.
