Month
A month is one of the 12 named parts of a calendar year.
What it means
Months organise dates through the year, from January to December. Unlike minutes or hours, months do not all have the same number of days, so a month-long interval must be worked out from actual dates.
Remember it
Twelve named months make a year, but the months do not all have equal lengths.
Example
From 1 April to 1 May is one calendar month and 30 days. From 1 May to 1 June is also one calendar month, but it is 31 days.
Watch for
A month cannot always be replaced by a fixed number of days. The answer depends on the named month, the dates, and whether February is in a leap year.
Common mix-up
Four weeks are 28 days, but most calendar months are longer than four weeks.
