Watch: Watch whether the learner enters 2 after tracking only the triangle tiles. An entry of 2 with one-to-one focus on the two triangle positions is decisive evidence that the missing part, not a copied label, was found.

Misread: A response of 8 suggests the learner treated “other part” as the labeled circle part; 10 suggests the whole was counted. Responses of 1 or 3 suggest a one-to-one count or tile-versus-corner misread.

Curriculum: This task assesses part–whole decomposition and missing-addend reasoning within 10: finding the number that combines with 8 to make 10, then recording one integer.
