Reading tables
Read a table or ledger row to find the requested entry and use the row-column relationship as evidence.
Print: Ages 8–9 · 2–3 min · Core · Tables Read · Independent practice · Count Response
Watch: Watch whether the learner enters 12 or 21 and stops after one target row. The decisive evidence is whether both the Star and Triangle tallies are decoded before the total is submitted.
Misread: A response of 2 suggests the learner counted the two named rows, while 39, 42, or 48 suggests they included rows not named in the question. Responses 30–32 point instead to misreading grouped tallies or skipping single marks.
Curriculum: This is a one-way categorical tally-table task. It scores selecting two named rows, decoding groups of five and singles, and combining the two frequencies as one exact whole-number total.
